
Turkish Lecture
The Halle Institute hosts the annual Turkish Lecture, in partnership with the American Turkish Friendship Council. The Turkish Lecture Series brings public intellectuals in the fields of Ottoman and Turkish studies, including business and trade, history, politics, and culture, to interact with Emory students and faculty and members of the Atlanta-area community.
2025 Turkish LEcture Distinguished Guest Speaker
Ali Çarkoğlu
This year’s Turkish Lecture with distinguished guest speaker is Professor Ali Çarkoğlu, Professor of International Relations at Koç University and Visiting Researcher at the Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law at Stanford University.
The lecture will focus on the evolution of electoral dynamics in Turkey from 1990 to 2023, focusing on the impact of social dividing factors and democratic backsliding on party competition and voter behavior.
